What is a "vernal pool" in California? Our March speaker showed us photos and descriptions of the habitat, special animals and many unusual wildflowers flowers found in vernal pools. The outing to Jepson Prairie Preserve, near Fairfield, will introduce us to this unique type of wetland habitat. The field trip to the area is when it is at its seasonal height.
Fee: $10 cash or check to Solano Land Trust, per person. We will carpool from the Pink Wall at 8:30 am to this area near Fairfield. Leader, Susan Dalcamo, and the two hour tour will be led by Charlie Russell, docent and our speaker on March 17. Bring a sun hat you can tie down, and a jacket.
